Let’s jump into a set of homophones that are often confused with each other! Homophones in general can be tricky, since they are by definition words that have the same pronunciation but different meanings and/or spellings. In this segment I’m going to be talking about peak, peek, and pique!

This tricky trio all work as noun (person/place/thing) and verb (action word) forms. Peak can also be used as an adjective (a descriptor word). For the sake of this post I’m only going to be talking about the verb forms!

🏔️ PEAK, verb. To reach a maximum.

The Disneyland ticket prices peak during Spring Break.

🫣 PEEK, verb. To look furtively or briefly.

I took a peek at the Disneyland ticket prices.

🧐PIQUE, verb. To excite or arouse especially by challenge or provocation.

The ticket deal from Disneyland piqued my curiosity so I checked it out.
