✍🏻 Behind the Scenes: Sam Speed Edits set-up

I always love seeing posts like this from others so wanted to share my own! Here’s my work setup for Sam Speed Edits. And yes, my “office” is my kitchen table because if the twins are home I can be on my laptop while they play or watch a show.

Here’s what I have going on:

💻 My laptop, which I use extensively for all things Edits.

📒 My business notebook, where I take notes on business strategy and tools.

📆 My planner, where I set goals and plot my days and weeks.

📗 The Chicago Manual of Style, which is essentially my editing source of truth and is referenced often!

📓 My reading notebook, where I take handwritten notes while I’m editing of things I want to note or remember but don’t want to mark in the document.

✍🏻 Two colored pens, which is actually a low number. I usually have 4 or more pens in use for different reasons on any given day.

🧐 Serious face that definitely wasn’t at all trying to look casual when taking this photo.

Somehow not pictured: 2-3 comfort beverages (usually a seltzer, a plain water and some electrolytes) and a snack of some sort.

This week I’m working on a gothic romance novella, a contemporary workplace romance, and a domestic thriller! I feel incredibly blessed and grateful to have the privilege to work with these words and their authors, and I will never take it for granted.
